Ban Conflicts of Interest While in Office
Sitting MPs and ministers should not trade or hold conflicting investments — and they should not walk straight into lobbying jobs when they leave.
If you are writing the rules, you should not be trading on them.
Australians are sick of watching people in power hold investments, take meetings, and then land lobbying gigs that look like a reward for access. Cooling-off periods that mean something, and clear bans on conflicting investments while in office, are the minimum for a serious democracy.
This is not about punishing public service. It is about making the job honest: serve the public first, not your portfolio.
