20 August 2026
Dear your local MP,
I am writing about the NDIS Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026, which passed the Senate on 18 August 2026 after 63 amendments were released only hours before the vote.
I am on the NDIS, or care about people who are, and I do not feel like this process genuinely listened to us. The Senate inquiry received more than 4,000 submissions, yet the bill's final shape was settled in a closed-door deal. From 1 October 2026, funding for social, civic and community participation can be cut by ministerial determination — and that category was specifically excluded from the new appeal rights.
Please tell me: will you push for community and social participation funding to be brought back within appeal rights, and will you hold the government to real, transparent scrutiny as these changes roll out — not just for people who need constant care, but for everyone the scheme is meant to support?
Yours sincerely,
Your name
